PC/OS is lightning fast!

I can't believe I'm on such an old computer with how fast everything is moving. This definitely beats Ubuntu.

Linux Install on Old Laptop

OK. I have Ubuntu, but it's too slow for my old Dell laptop. So I tried a PC/OS DVD install ISO, but it griped about not being able to find the kernel or some such thing. Then I read somewhere that sometimes the CD works and not the DVD. So I figure maybe my BIOS can't handle this new advanced DVD something-or-other. Downloading PC/OS OpenDesktop 2009 v2a now, burning to CD tonight, hopefully installing with no issues. Cross your fingers!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAW!

So begins the song "Rags and Bones" by NoMeansNo, a Canadian band I decided I like. Catchy bassline. They've been around quite a while, too. Red Devil is another song I like of theirs.

I found them through Pandora. I have been skipping around finding music I've heard of, but have never actually heard before. Scratch Acid is another one that comes to mind. I remember reading about how the singer, David Yow, was in the Jesus Lizard and I've seen them back in the day on 120 Minutes when MTV used to show music videos. Other bands I've found through Pandora: Pepper, a Hawaiian reggae band; Big Black, one of Steve Albini's many bands; and (the?) Silversun Pickups. All great stuff.

If you don't know what Pandora is (seriously?), it's a free internet radio station. You type in a band name that you like and it will suggest music for you listen to. High-quality music, too. And it works on the iPhone. Can't beat it!
