Linux Install on Old Laptop

OK. I have Ubuntu, but it's too slow for my old Dell laptop. So I tried a PC/OS DVD install ISO, but it griped about not being able to find the kernel or some such thing. Then I read somewhere that sometimes the CD works and not the DVD. So I figure maybe my BIOS can't handle this new advanced DVD something-or-other. Downloading PC/OS OpenDesktop 2009 v2a now, burning to CD tonight, hopefully installing with no issues. Cross your fingers!
